About

Building at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and AI.

Menasse Gebregzi is a Cloud & AI Solutions Engineer based in Cologne, Germany. With a background spanning creative technology, film production, and digital product development, he brings a systems-thinking mindset to every project — from API design to cloud deployment.

Currently focused on AWS cloud architecture and Generative AI integration, Menasse builds production-ready systems using Python, FastAPI, and Amazon Bedrock. His work ranges from intelligent chatbot APIs to full-stack SaaS products deployed on cloud infrastructure.

Pursuing AWS Certified AI Practitioner and AWS Certified Developer certifications. Every project is an opportunity to go deeper — understanding not just how to build, but why the architecture works the way it does.

AWS certification journey started

Approach

Architecture First

Every system starts with a clear design. Infrastructure decisions are made deliberately, not by accident.

Ship & Learn

Production is the best teacher. Build fast, deploy early, iterate based on real feedback.

Full Stack Thinking

From Bedrock API to React frontend — understanding the whole system leads to better decisions at every layer.

Documentation

Code that isn't explained doesn't scale. Every project includes architecture diagrams and clear reasoning.

Approach

More than code.
Understanding.
Building.
Shipping.

Cloud and AI engineering is more than writing functions and deploying containers. It is about understanding what a system needs to do, why it needs to do it that way, and how every architectural decision affects reliability, cost, and maintainability. Every project starts with a clear question: what problem does this solve, and what is the simplest architecture that solves it well?

“The best architecture is the one you can explain to someone else.”

Projects

Built. Shipped. Learned.

Project 01 — Foundation

Complete

Bedrock Chatbot — Single User

First direct integration with Amazon Bedrock. A command-line Python chatbot using boto3 and Nova Micro with persistent conversation history. The foundation for understanding how LLM APIs work and how context windows handle memory.

Python · boto3 · Amazon Bedrock · Nova Micro · eu-central-1

Architecture

Single process → boto3 client → Bedrock Runtime → Nova Micro. No server, no sessions, no concurrency.

What was learned

How the AWS SDK authenticates, how inference profiles work, why conversation history must be sent with every request, and how temperature affects output quality.

Project 02 — Production Step

Complete

Bedrock Chatbot API — Multi User

Evolved the single-user chatbot into a production-ready REST API using FastAPI and uvicorn. Multiple users can maintain independent conversations simultaneously via session IDs. Exposed as HTTP endpoints with automatic OpenAPI documentation.

Python · FastAPI · uvicorn · boto3 · Amazon Bedrock · REST API · Session Management

Architecture

HTTP POST /chat → FastAPI router → session store (in-memory dict) → boto3 → Bedrock Runtime → JSON response. Each session_id maps to its own conversation_history list.

What was learned

How to wrap an LLM call in a web framework, how session isolation works, why stateless HTTP needs explicit state management, and how FastAPI's automatic /docs endpoint accelerates testing.

Design Decision

Chose FastAPI over Flask for async support, Pydantic validation, and automatic OpenAPI docs — all relevant for a production AI API.

More projects in development. Each one builds on the last.
